Helpful Hints for Getting Organized
Some info and hints to help your holiday sharing organizing efforts!!
- Communicate family information with colleagues
- The sooner people learn about the family, the sooner they can begin shopping.
- Remember to contact your "remote" office -- those colleagues not physically in the same office.
- Collect items early
- Wrap a large (copy paper) box with holiday paper for canned goods and other pantry items and place it in a prominent location.
- Take advantage of Thanksgiving sales and buy one/ get one free sales.
- Encourage your department to save bottle/can money.
- Place a jar out so that people can donate their loose change.
- Coordinate your efforts
- If you are sharing a family with another department, be sure to stay in touch with all involved.
- Periodic updates
- Keep units informed about items that are purchased and items still needed.
- Ensure duplicates are not purchased.
- Remind people who have not yet shopped.
- E-mail weekly updates; this helps to keep the department engaged.
- Notify your group of scheduled pickup date
- This will help ensure everyone has their items in.
- Enlist help bringing items down to the pickup point.
- Give Pickup Details to at least One other Person
- Give date/time/location to someone else on the chance that you aren’t in the office when the elves arrive to pick up the goodies!
- Phone Coverage on Pickup Date
- Ensure that there is phone coverage on pick up dates. This will avoid the elves getting voice mail when they call to let you know what time they will arrive.
